Dad’s funeral (13th December 2007, 23:26:23)

I never expected that the first funeral I would ever attend would be my dad’s. It had been almost 10 months – since March when Dad was said to be suffering from lung cancer – till December. I have no idea how many times I have silently shed my tears during these seemingly endless months. It seems that there was no way I could accept the facts. Throughout these 10 months, what I felt most was that our life is really very fragile, that we really should take good care of it. I’ve seen a person’s process of life and death; I’ve seen a person who hopes to fight serious illness and then defeat it – a person who really hopes to bravely live on – how reluctant he was to leave the world and how attached he was to his family. I’ve seen with my own eyes a valuable life just ending like this. No matter how reluctant I was to let go and how hard I tried to detain, it all seem pale and helpless before the devil of this serious illness.

Plucking Fruits on New Year’s Day (3^rd January 2008, 23:04:51)

We went to an orchard to harvest some fruits today. It is totally enjoyable to be in the arms of Mother Nature – what a joyful thing it is. The sunlight, the wind, the green grass and the fruit trees – all in a picture – for all of us who had been isolated for over 20 days and busy with our heavy and dull trainings, arriving at this orchard  is a touch of relaxation we’ve never experienced. Although it is an afternoon and I am feeling rather sleepy as I used to take afternoon naps, I felt more awake upon seeing this scenery.

Welcoming a new year with the fashion of the period (31^st December 2007, 13:15:16)

Zhuhai diary 3 (27^th December 2007, 21:09)
 
After a tiring training day, I wanted to stay in my room to rest at first. Then I suddenly found out that since coming to Zhuhai to train, the time I spend each night in my room is getting lesser and lesser. Other than therapy sessions and time wasted relaxing, the main reason for that is because there are always people coming to find me to humiliate me at card games, to clamor about being better at me in snooker or to drag me out to accompany them to do this and that. The same goes for today, the extremely bored Xiao Jie (Gong Weijie) wanted to drag me out to drink coffee with him. After his threat to sever all ties with me was rejected sternly by me, he made up his mind and offered to treat me to a cup of higher class iced mocha. For me, I yield to soft approaches but reject force, so I’m particularly afraid of people using money and beauty to force me to do what they ask. Xiao Jie saw through this characteristic of mine, so in the absence of pretty girls, he decided to use money. In the end, I followed him out.
