 I was touched by the innocent and artless smile of little children. That is the most beautiful and real smile!!! (9th November 2007, 19:44:22)
Today is a very special day to me. I participated in a caring activity for the children who were born with heart disease. I was given the title Ambassador of Philanthropy and I’m really glad about it. This is one of the events under the Children’s Hope Foundation of China.
When I first got a call from the workers, I thought that it was a very meaningful activity. I got lots of support from the national Ping Pong and Badminton team, especially from coach Li Yong Bo. Coach Li even wanted me to send his regards them to show his support for such volunteering activities and he will also take part in these activities in the future. All this made me feel that I wasn’t alone. With the support of our big family of badminton players, I believed that I will do my best to help the children to recover sooner.
After signing the contract, we visited four children who were helped from the donation. I was very touched to see the innocent smile on the children’s faces and the gratitude shone from their parents’ eyes because I was also born with a heart problem. I had an operation in the year 2001 to heal it. My chief and coaches gave me their full support whenever I faced problems and finally, I was back on the court. My results at current are all because of their support and help. As for the children in the poor villages, they are not as lucky as us.
Actually a little donation from all of us can help many of these kids to regain health. I hope that more kind and caring people will give all our adorable children a chance to start it over again!!! From now onwards, I will help out in this volunteering activity more often when I am not busy with training and tournaments.
When the cute little children run to you with innocent smiles, you will feel that that is the most blissful time!!
