Poul Erik Hoyer Larsen could be the next President of Badminton Europe - hence, a future Vice President of the BWF.  This is what was announced earlier this week by the council of the European governing body, after Tom Bacher, the current President, hinted that he would not be a candidate for the next election, to be held in Manchester during the European Individual Championships from April 14th to 18th next year.

The candidacy from Poul Erik Hoyer Larsen is being officially supported by Badminton Europe's council as mentioned in the letter they sent to their members.  "Among other aspects, management and marketing skills, extensive working experience in the field of sport and knowledge of badminton were considered important.  After intensive search and consideration Council unanimously agreed to approach Poul-Erik Høyer Larsen as a suitable candidate," it says.

The 1996 Olympic gold medallist has gained experience in many fields on and off the court and he now looks like the favourite candidate be elected next year to represent the old continent.
